JUNE 19th
REGAL  came second yesterday, losing by a length to Rock N Roll Hanover. John Campbell kept Regal locked in at the rail with RockNRoll's stable-mate Cams Fool until the last 1/8th of the mile when Regal finally got out on a dying Cams Fool, but it was too late. The final quarter was in 26 seconds, the mile in 1:49.4.

We now await the Meadowlands Pace, Little Brown Jug, Tattersalls Pace, and Breeders Crown to determine who the better of the two is. Right now it's RockNRoll. But he didn't win it alone and I think we need to see a couple of more races to decide.

N'est pas?

Peaceful Way returned to her winning ways in her 2005 debut with a spirited open-length victory. Parked through the first quarter after leaving well, the four-year-old mare briefly found two-hole cover as the field straightened into the backstretch. As quickly as she found the pocket, Trevor Ritchie tipped out for clear run at the lead. Once on a clear lead, Bramasole left her position on the cones to challenge Peaceful Way. But the eventual second-place finisher was no match for the champion who finished the mile full of trot.

Quotes: Trainer David Tingley "Tonight was a test. She got used, got parked at the quarter, challenged again down the backside and again in the stretch. She drew off like the champion she is. She's just a tremendous filly and she just loves to win. She just wants to do it and you have to love her for that. She's one of those fillies that you can't really fight her that much and she'll give you 100 per cent. I told Trevor (Ritchie) she'd trot in 1:52. He handled her quite well."
